Remasters don't add or subtract from what's on the final mix (if they did it would technically be considered a remix), they're just an improved 'transfer' from the final (analog) mix to a final digital format. I'd agree with this. Obviously most vocalists have perhaps only a decade of true greatness before one or more internal and/or external factors put a stop to it. However, there are some who seem to wield vocal superpowers for more or less their whole lives - I'd put Thom in that rarefied category, as well as Prince.
