- I also don't reealy see the sense of a prepatched Disk Image that needs a working OS X Install. Everyone who has got such one could do this himself.

Maybe realising an Image that could be restored to the HD using dd or similiar like the very first OSx86 releases, would be more useful. @PROTOCOLX Read the Rules! 9.) No Warez. Members are asked to respect the copyright of other users, sites, media, etc.

Okay, I didn't know that.

That it was against the rules. Other forum didn't make a problem of it. But I respect the rules of this forum. The sense of this pre-patched image is that this image almost works on any Intel PC! This can be very useful cause this image fits on 6.5GB USB pendrive or any other external or internal harddrive! So you can take it with you if you going to buy a laptop or netbook!

Most people know that the information on HCL wiki isn't any guarantee that it will work! This USB pendrive can be used to test any Intel computer on the fly!! (No DSTD needed) Second, there are a lot of people (including me.) that were not able to install Snowleopard in the first place! Now with this working image there are a lot people who have a working Snowleopard installation!

(Look on different forums) Third, I'm working on the very same image with a Window/PC installation method. With this method you have a working Snowleopard installation within 10 minutes!

You don't need any OS to install! It will be available very soon! (This Mac installation image is more like a test version for the PC installer to come.) (This is more in you're way of 'sense' I think.) I do understand your opinion, that it make's no sense to need a working OSX to install a Snowleopard. Cause most people here will know how install Snowleopard from distro or retail with Empire EFI.

But there are a lot of people who don't know how to do it! That's the reason there are some many questions about it! This image is just for the 'noobs' that aren't able to select the right drivers and patches! This image was designed to help a lot of people in the OSx86 scene! Third, I'm working on the very same image with a Window/PC installation method.

With this method you have a working Snowleopard installation within 10 minutes! You don't need any OS to install! Haha I don't need any OS but Windows? That's even worse. I do not want to criticize your idea of an universall preinstalled image itself - exactly the opposite: as I wrote I even like the idea of having Snow Leopard Release in the vein of early OSx86 Builds like the good old deadmoo image. Nor could I say something about your work, as I haven't tested it. My only critique was the dmg format as it's supported by OS X only, which I think is very unhandy.

With having a full hard disk or partition image, there are much more options you could use it. For example you could use such an image to create an Linux / shell script based installer, allowing the user to restore the image & installing the bootloader to an selected harddrive. - Just a little idea of mine of course. But there are a lot of people who don't know how to do it! That's the reason there are some many questions about it!

This image is just for the 'noobs' that aren't able to select the right drivers and patches! Sorry but I disagree with this. I think a lot of the noob postings are a result of people, who are making the empty promise that OS X could be installed on any Hardware just with using some universall prepatched release - this simply ain't fact in the very most cases.

Ofcourse such releases can be a grade-A help for people with more complicated hardware, but without having at least some knowledge. These people automatically run into problems - at the latest when a system upgrade overwrites the Kernel Binary of their 50% working installation or something like that.^^. Yes it is a bit unhandy to have a.DMG installation, but it contains a CopyCatX image so it didn't make any sense to make another file of it cause you just need a working OSX to install it. But this is more some sort of test version for those who already managed to run OSX on their computer but also for just those people who have 'real' Mac! After these results I can upload the other image which easily can be restored with Clonezilla liveCD, (so you don't need Windows.) I just don't have the knowledge to make a script, cause I ain't a developer! I just put working things together to make a package that works in most configurations.

And it's easy to edit your install to your needs. (But if you have any idea's to make this image more useful, you're very welcome!) I see now that there are no any links for the Hazard distro.

Was only in my mind cause of the picture that you posted. 'I do not want to criticize your idea of an universall preinstalled image itself - exactly the opposite: as I wrote I even like the idea of having Snow Leopard Release in the vein of early OSx86 Builds like the good old deadmoo image. Like: 'to create an Linux / shell script based installer, allowing the user to restore the image & installing the bootloader to an selected harddrive' That sounds very useful indeed, but I do not have the knowledge to do that so.

If you can give me any tips, it would be nice. The results of iPortable are quite positive so far. So any improvements to new coming PC installer would be appreciated! Service Advisor 4 1 Keygen Free. ! Hi PROTOCOLX, Thank you for creating a wonderful OSx86 distro. I am still downloading this one, but I am using your old iGenius 10.5.6 - HFS Plus - non Journaled (for write access in Linux). My HDD is a external USB 2.0 Seagate FreeAgent Go 500 GB 5400 RPM one which is GPT partitioned (Pure GPT - not Hybrid). I use it for storing backups of my personal files as well as for booting Mac (iGenius one presently).

I setup the iGenius Mac as follows:- 1) Boot a mac from 16 GB Kingston pendrive. 2) Partitioned my external USB HDD as GPT (I have absolutely no problem with GPT) with a 35 GB HFS+ (non-Journaled - to have r/w access in Linux). 3) Use Copycatx to restore iGenius to that partition. 4) Manually setup Chameleon using terminal following the instructions in the readme file. 5) Reboot with the USB HDD as first boot device in the BIOS. I have a few questions:- 1) Does installing this iPortable to the same partition involve any other step apart from the ones mentioned? 2) What is DSDT?

Why is it important for Snow Leopard and why is it not important for booting Leopard (I do not have a DSDT.aml file - did not understand what is that in the first place)? 3) Do I need to manually install Chameleon in my USB HDD or will the Empire EFI (or the myhack tools) do that job?

4) Do I need to modify my EFI System Partition (FAT32 filesystem - not HFS+)? I use it to boot Linux with GRUB2 as a x64 UEFI Binary (not a Apple FAT EFI binary) and my Windows using bootmgfw.efi (Windows Boot Manager x64 EFI Binary) 5) Can I select a AMD compatible kernel while booting iPortable Snow? (mine is Intel - my friend's laptop is AMD) 6) You mention that this is a copycatx 'MBR' image. Does that mean this image cannot boot from GPT? Is it the image of the full disk (including the MBR boot code and partition table) or just the image of the partition/volume (like the iGenius one)? 7) Will this iPortable support a IDE HDD (SATA mode - Legacy IDE in my Dell Phoenix BIOS)? IGenius boots with AHCI SATA mode only.

8) In my iGenius installation, everytime I boot I get 'Firewire UUID or GUID error' wherein the GUID is shown as 0 (just zeros). How to correct this? My booting is slow because of this error.

9) My iGenius restarts always irrespective of whether I selecy Restart or Shutdown option? How can I make it shutdown properly? 10) Do you know of any kext(s) for ATI Mobility Radeon HD3450 (note I need kext for the 'Mobility' Card, not the desktop one).

By the way VoodooHDA is great for my sound needs (IDT codec), and Voodoo Battery detects my Battery properly. Both ApplePS2Controller and VoodooPS2 kexts work for my Laptop's Keyboard and Trackpad (Alps). Many Thanks to Voodoo team for Chameleon, the kexts and many other programs that I may not know of. I am new to Mac OS but I do know quite a bit about Windows and Linux. For those keen on setting up Windows to boot in UEFI-GPT mode follow the instructions in this link -.

My laptop specs:- Dell India Studio 1537, Intel Core2Duo P8400 (supports Intel Virtualization extensions), 4 GB DDR2 RAM, 320 GB 5400 RPM internal HDD, ATI Mobility Radeon HD3450 (256 MB RAM), Intel 5100 Wifi Card, Widcomm Bluetooth, Optiarc DVD writer Windows 7 x86_64 Professional RTM in UEFI-GPT mode (my UEFI is tianocore.sourceforge.net EDK DUET UEFI64 option - checkout tiano-efi-duet-folder-sk.4shared.com for my builds), and Fedora Linux 12 x86_64 with GRUB2 x64 UEFI Binary as my bootloader. Check this link for loading XNU kernel using GRUB2. Finally I want to know how to backup my installed and modified iGenius to a Clonezilla image. The iGenius is installed in a 30 GB HFS+ partition. I would like to backup this up to a compressed image and restore it to my 16 GB Kingston UFD and then boot from this UFD to restore 'iPortable Snow' to the same 30 GB Partition once its downloaded.

Is is possible using Clonezilla? My main doubt is that here the source partition is 30 GB and the destination is 15 GB. (The used space in the 30 GB volume presently is only 10.5 GB so my guess is that there should be no problem in cloning it to a 15 GB partition). But in CopycatX and Clonezilla websites it is specifically mentioned that the destination partition size should be equal or greater than the source partition. What about the destination partition being smaller than the source but being bigger than the used space in the source partition, will it work?
